Mass media has called our University «a young, but promising youth». We have received this reputation due to our rapid development: during the last twenty years we have turned from a pedagogical college into a state university.
The Surgut State Pedagogical University today is a dynamic higher education institution. It is well known as a young and prospective university not only in our region but also in the whole country and abroad. We have wonderful traditions and wonderful people ready to sustain and develop them. They are talented academics, researchers, and students. We highly appreciate our university atmosphere full of creativity, eagerness for research, bold ideas, and respect for personality. Only such atmosphere can contribute to the growth of innovative ideas and good initiatives.
Three times, in 2005, 2009 and 2011, our university has become a winner in a public higher education contest in the nomination, the best 100 universities of Russia. Besides, in 2011, Associate Professor Dr. T. M. Zakhozhaya, Vice-Provost for Academic and Extracurricular Affairs, has become a winner in the contest in the nomination, Vice-Provost of the Year. Finally, our university social project, Surgut: a Dream and Reality, has won in the nomination, the most significant event in the university life.
Surgut State Pedagogical University is a leader in using computer technologies among pedagogical and linguistic universities. In 2007, in Khanty-Mansyisk the university took part in the 7 th regional exhibition «Information technology of the 21st century» and received a gold medal.
Surgut State Pedagogical University has a high intellectual potential. In May 2010, in St. Petersburg, the university was nominated and received a gold medal as one of the 100 best Russian science and education institutions.
Surgut State Pedagogical University is proud of its graduates. Positive feedback from employers testify to the high quality of training, ability to take initiatives and high intellectual potential of the graduates. Our graduates have been winners of the professional contest, Teacher of the Year five times. It is also worth mentioning that many of our graduates have joined our university faculty.
